How to Wash Delicates

How to Wash Delicates

Always begin with the care label. Many garments marked “dry clean” can be carefully hand washed at home, while those labeled “dry clean only” are best left to a professional cleaner.

For silk and other delicate knits (excluding wool and cashmere), thoughtful care helps preserve drape, texture and shape. Avoid washing leather, suede or structured garments with lining or padding. When in doubt, test a discreet area first to check for color release and shrinkage.

Prewash

  • Pre-treat stains by applying a small amount of Lindry Lab Stain Remover to the affected area -Blot gently with a soft cloth, avoiding agitation to maintain fiber integrity
  • Launder soon after treating

Washing

  • Hand washing is preferred
  • Fill a basin with cold water and add Lindry Lab Delicates Wash, Scent 29, following the product instructions for proper dosage
  • Submerge the garment and gently press to distribute the wash. Allow to soak for up to 30 minutes.
  • Rinse thoroughly with cold water. Never wring or twist, as this can distort delicate fibers
  • Gently press out excess water and reshape
  • If machine washing, place garments in a mesh washing bag to prevent snagging, especially for silk, lace or embellished pieces.
  • Turn garments inside out and close all zippers
  • Select a delicate cycle with cold water and a low spin
  • Dose detergent according to your machine and load size.

Drying

  • Lay flat on a clean towel and roll gently to absorb moisture
  • Reshape, then hang to dry or lay flat until fully dry.

Storing

  • Store garments in a cool, dry space
  • Fold knits and structured pieces; hang silk, lace and lighter garments to maintain their form.
  • Use breathable storage for long-term care
  • Refresh with Lindry Lab Clothing & Home Scent, Scent 29.

LL Tip: Delicate fabrics benefit from thoughtful care. Launder delicate pieces inside a mesh washing bag to help reduce friction during the wash cycle. Reshape while damp to preserve the garment’s natural drape and form. Silk and lace are best stored on padded hangers to support their delicate structure.
