How to Wash Athletic Clothing

How to Wash Athletic Clothing

Performance fabrics are engineered to move with you — through workouts, travel, and long days alike. Crafted from technical fibers designed, these garments require thoughtful care to preserve their structure and performance.

Exposure to high heat can compromise elasticity, weaken fibers, and diminish their ability to retain shape. Air drying helps maintain stretch, structure, and long-term integrity — extending the life of the pieces you rely on most.

Pre-Treat

Pretreat Stains and odors with Lindry Lab Stain Remover and Oxy Booster

  • For odor soak in warm water with Oxy Booster to lift up the odor more effectively
  • For tough/old stains create a paste with the Stain Remover and Oxy Booster on our Stain Brush
  • Turn items inside out as that is where most odor sets in for athletic clothing

Washing

  • Wash cottons in hot water and performance fabrics in cold to warm water.
  • Wash Wool/Ski or Winter Items with Cashmere and Wool Wash and only in cold on a delicate cycle(see How to Wash Cashmere and wool for complete information.)
  • High heat can compromise performance
  • Choose a Delicate or Hand wash Cycle(High Speed Spins can stress technical fabrics)
  • Dose detergent according to machine and load size

Drying

  • Hang to dry or line dry to protect performance, structure and fit of the item
  • For cotton items only, you can tumble dry
  • High heat can compromise performance

Storing

LL Tip: Cotton sweats may seem durable, but heat can cause shrinkage and diminish that first-wear softness. Wash in cold water on a delicate cycle and hang to dry to maintain their shape and feel. To dry faster you can do a short drying cycle and hang to finish off the drying.
